Wedding Photography

First things first always have a contract, half of the money up front, a shot that the bride and groom have approved, and be the only photographer there (get that in your contract). Make sure you figure travel expenses into the cost of your service as well. It is important that you have a lot of patience, because a wedding is a very high stress function the majority of the time and that means everyone is ready to blow up at the first sign of disaster. You will need dress clothes that you can wear to the event. Personally I recommend slacks, a dress shirt, and possible a vest or tie. This is because pockets are very useful and you never know what the weather will be like. Friends weddings get a little trickier because you are usually doing those weddings at a loss. The least you should ask for in that case is travel expenses and the cost of the CD's or Flash-drive you will be putting the work on. Visit the wedding location at least once so that you are aware of what you have to work with. Find out if you are expected to do the reception or prep work pictures. But most of all get the wedding photos edited and to your client within 2 weeks, because the longer you take to get it done the angrier the clients will be.
