Types of Photography
Okay so we have talked about rules, basic equipment, and pricing your work. So now we are going to talk about Portrait, Architecture, and landscape photography. We may even touch on some of what it takes to do Wedding photography.
Let's start with portrait photography. This includes both single people and family's or really any photo with people. Most of the time with portrait photography your background will be blurred its mostly filler or used to enhance the looks of the people in the photos. Remember the rule of thirds it is really important to utilize in this type of photography. Props are also used in this area of photography. For example in a family portrait the would be in front of the parents and the parents would hold a large wooden picture frame and use it to frame the family. Or flower crowns for the female subjects are also popular. The thing to try to focus on is setting your subjects at ease or get them to laugh and enjoy themselves so that good mood and energy is reflected in the photo. If your subject is uncomfortable then people will be able to tell.
Architecture photography can actually be pretty versatile. Either with estate photography where you are taking photos that promote and sell a location or building, or macro photography where you focus on a single interesting pattern or feature in architecture.
Landscape is a little simpler. It is going out in all kinds of weather and lighting to capture images of nature. That is a park or forest or whatever so long as you are focusing on the landscape and not any of the people who might be in it.
We will talk Wedding photography and all the work and pitfalls in the next post.
